Deschiderea Conferinței Naționale a Societății Române de Hematologie – Ediția XXXI

Distinguished colleagues, esteemed guests, ladies and gentlemen,

As the president of Romanian Society of Hematology it is my privilege to open the Annual Conference of the Romanian Society of Hematology, organized in partnership with the Balkan Myeloma Study Group and the Romanian Society of Transfusion Medicine.

Each edition of this conference has added a new chapter to our professional journey, strengthening ties within our community and setting higher standards for scientific debate and clinical practice.

The 31st edition continues this legacy and I am confident that it will be a memorable milestone in our society’s history.

Over the years, this conference has become a vital meeting for medical professionals, researchers and students, as well as an essential forum for the promotion of hematology and transfusion medicine in Romania and beyond.  We gather here today as a community of hematologists united by our shared dedication to advancing in the field of hematology and improving patients care. This 31th anniversary represents a important moment for all of us to come together, exchange knowledge, to speak about innovation that drives our profession. As we mark this significant milestone – our 31 st national conference – I think it’s important to take a moment to reflect on our journey and the progress we’ve made over the years. Of course, progress is huge because global hematology has evolved,

However, even as we celebrate these achievements, we recognize that much remains to be done. For many patients, access to innovative therapies remains limited, and healthcare disparities, particularly in some areas of our country, continue to be significant challenges. Our mission, as the Romanian Society of Hematology, is to reduce these gaps and ensure that every patient, no matter where they are, receives the best possible care.

An important pillar of this conference, innovation and new technologies. The rapid pace of technological advancement is transforming the way we diagnose, treat and monitor blood disorders.  As we adopt these new technologies, we must also ensure that we are prepared for the future. Continuous professional development, lifelong learning and the adoption of new skills are more important than ever. I am proud to say that the Romanian Society of Hematology is committed to supporting our members in this regard. Through initiatives such as training programs, online resources and professional networks, we aim to equip you with the tools you need to stay at the forefront of our field.

It is the moment when we take a new step to shape the future in Hematology in Romania – and for this we need permanent collaboration.

We are talking about national collaboration, strengthening the hematology network at national level, we are talking about international collaboration, especially with our colleagues from the Republic of Moldova, with our colleagues from the Balkan countries, and especially permanent collaboration with the European Hematology Association.

The Balkan region is rich in history, diversity and talent and our cooperation shows the great potential we hold when we work together. By joining forces, we not only pool our resources and expertise but also create a united voice that can bring significant contributions to both regional and global scientific progress.

The Romanian Society of Hematology is proud to collaborate with the European Hematology Association. This collaboration has allowed Romanian specialists to be part of a wider European community, to access the latest knowledge and to actively contribute to research and clinical practice that resonate beyond our national borders.

This meeting will run over 3 days with nearly 30 scientific sessions and the programme will cover almost everything about multiple myeloma and monoclonal gammopathies as well as a wide range of laboratory and clinical haematology issues.

I want to thank all those who have responded to our invitation to contribute to this excellent program, especially I would like to thank to our distinguished guests from Austria, Albania, Belgium, Canada, Croatia, France,  Germany, Greece,  Italy, Montenegro, Moldavia, Netherlands, Nord Macedonia,  Poland, Serbia, Slovenia, USA, UK.

In addition, I am deeply grateful to all of you – our participants. Your dedication to improving the lives of patients with blood disorders and your dedication for knowledge is what makes this event so special. You bring with you the expertise and passion that drives our profession, and your active participation will enrich the discussions and debates we will have in the coming days.

Also, we have with us patient organizations – Together we have created here an excellent platform for learning and collaboration in the field of hematology.

Finnaly I would like to take this opportunity to extend my profound appreciation to our important industrial partners for their support of this conference and of Romanian Society of Hematology as a whole.

Let this Conference serve as a reminder of what we can achieve when we work hand in hand, beyond geographical and political barriers.

With great pride and optimism, I now officially declare open the 31st National Conference of Hematology. May it be an inspiring and rewarding experience for all of us.
